Hey! Eliara is back with a manga to talk about!
Exactly! I'm going to talk about the manga Ao Haru Ride! I'm guessing that you have read the manga or watch the anime, which I haven't got into yet. I actually wanted to make a video about it, but I guess I don't really have the guts to do it yet. //sigh//
So, what's so great about this manga for me? It's funny and interesting. Honestly, the characters are fun people, especially Yuri Makita and Touma Kikuchi. [What?! Am I serious?! What about Kou and Futaba?] Listen- or read here, everyone has their own favourite character and what not. You may like the two main protagonists and dislike Touma, whom I like. I don't want you to just write a whole essay on why I should dislike any character or you wanting to debate with me liking sweet Touma. Everyone is free to choose who they like and who they dislike, okay?
Now, the story is quite understandable, not too complicated. Somehow, I can foresee the end result, which I don't know is normal or not. The only thing that I'm surprised was the fact that Kou's older brother, Youchi Tanaka, suddenly wanted to continue his studies. I guess I missed something while I was reading the manga. Some flashback here and there are fine by me since they are related to the story.
Starting from a section of middle school to introduce our main characters and how Futaba dislike boys but only like Kou (which I'm confused on why he's the only one 'kind' and 'quiet'. There must be at least some boys that are not annoying, right? Other that Kou?). Then, shifting to her high school moments, I love how she had what Kou said to be 'friends-in-name-only' or what I consider as fake friends. Her situation with those two (which I don't even bother to remember their names, cause I don't like them), is somehow similar to mine in real life. Literally, same. How the others were introduced is somehow acceptable to me. I love how the awkward and possibly the most embarrassing introduction to Touma happened. It's funny but awkward, which made me want to forget it, but their reaction was just too hilarious to me.
The characters, like I mentioned, are a bunch of fun people. They each have their own development, which I come to like. Honestly, here's how I think I would introduce the characters to someone.
"Oh, other than those two obvious lovebirds, we have the cute-savage Yuri Makita, the calm-yet always trying to stay cool Shuko Murao, the hyper-annoying with a sad past Aya Kominato, the loving brother but sometimes treated like s*** by the younger brother Youchi Tanaka, that one awkward, nice and misunderstood Touma Kikuchi and the ‘we are the same’ old friend Yui Narumi. Meh, they're all cool, so you're going to like it!"
My favourite characters from this manga? Yuri Makita and Touma Kikuchi. You want to argue with me about it? Why? They're just my favourite from the beginning, so you can't really do anything about it. I somehow feel like they were both misunderstood at first, but later on, it was reveal something about them that actually made me like them more. Deep down, I wish these two characters have their own section. Do I ship them? Kind of.
What about the main ship- Kou and Futaba? They already have a good chemistry, that is what I'm going to say about them. I thought that with Futaba disliking boys, she might have a female crush, but it's not really surprising that she likes Kou, as to how he treated her. Maybe it was actually a love at first sight for both parties?
Anyways! This is a good manga overall, but I have to say my ratings for this manga is actually 3.5 out of 5. Why? Simply because this does not give me that much of an impact that would make me re-read the whole manga again. It's funny and all, but I feel like there's something else wrong. I can't really find what made me give this a 3.5, but that is my rating, which is pretty average. It's good, but not too good and nowhere near bad. I would definitely recommend this to you if you haven't read this manga or watch the anime yet. Honestly, I don't think you would regret it.
That is all for my thoughts on this manga! It's not very useful for any of you since it's simply my thoughts on something. I don't really think I'm a good reviewer, but I'll try and improve some aspects of my so-called review. Like I said, this is simply my thoughts, so it's not perfect.
With that being said, thank you for reading my thoughts and I shall write more whenever I can! Until then, stay stunning and keep your head up! (I seriously don't know what to use for my 'outro', so yeah...)
Eliara signed out!
